CMS Extends Worksheet S-10 Deadline to Jan. 2

November 2, 2017

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) extended the deadline to Jan. 2, 2018, for hospitals to revise worksheet S-10 of the Medicare cost report for fiscal years (FYs) 2014 and 2015.

CMS previously had extended the revision deadline to Oct. 31, following numerous changes to the worksheet S-10 and the accompanying instructions.

Hospitals use the worksheet S-10 to submit uncompensated care data to CMS. Association members should ensure they follow the revised instructions and accurately capture all uncompensated costs for FYs 2014 and 2015. CMS is using FY 2014 S-10 data to calculate FY 2018 Medicare disproportionate share hospital payments and will use the revised data for FY 2019 rulemaking.

Medicare administrative contractors must receive the revisions on or before Jan. 2. This extension deadline applies only to the worksheet S-10 and not to other worksheets included in the cost report.
