CMS Extends Quality Reporting Deadline after Technical Issues

February 13, 2017
Michelle Rosenfeld

Hospitals will have more time to submit certain quality reporting data after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) received reports of system issues and inaccessibility with QualityNet.

As a result of the problems, CMS announced that inpatient and prospective payment system (PPS)-exempt cancer hospitals now have until Feb. 24 to submit:

  • chart-abstracted clinical measures and web-based perinatal care measures for the inpatient quality reporting (IQR) program; and
  • cancer-specific treatment measures for the PPS-exempt quality reporting program.

In addition, CMS extended the deadline to submit health careassociated infection data to the National Healthcare Safety Network to:

  • March 15 for hospitals in the IQR and PPS-exempt programs; and
  • May 15 for inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and long-term care hospitals.
