The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced notice of intent to apply (NOIA) and application deadlines for a Jan. 1, 2020, start date for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP).
The redesigned MSSP-Pathways to Success overhauls participation by requiring accountable care organizations (ACOs) to transition more rapidly to performance-based risk. ACOs in the program must choose either the BASIC or ENHANCED track for participation.
Beginning June 11, CMS will accept NOIAs. Applicants must submit an NOIA by June 28 at noon ET to apply to the BASIC or ENHANCED track of the program, for a waiver of the skilled nursing facility three-day rule, or to establish and operate a beneficiary incentive program.
The application period will run from July 1 through July 29, ending at noon ET. ACOs will have an opportunity during this period to make changes to their tracks, repayment mechanisms, and other NOIA-related information.
