In response to the public’s growing demand for information on health care services, The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) launched a quality transparency initiative by publishing physician ratings, patient satisfaction survey results, quality reports, and cost of care on its external website. The aim is to educate patients and families on ways to partner in their care, offer resources, and share information patients should know about their care. The website also helps promote the UTMB patient experience and optimizes search engine results on providers.
During the webinar, the presenters discussed the benefits and outcomes of their initiative and motivated senior executives to consider – or reconsider – their assumptions and approach to sharing quality, safety, and service outcomes.
