The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will hold a National Provider Call April 7 to discuss how accountable care organizations (ACOs) can apply for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) in 2016. The MSSP encourages coordination and cooperation to promote a higher quality of care by offering incentives to providers for lowering treatment costs. To apply for the 2016 program year, providers must do the following:
- submit a notice of intent to CMS by May 29
- obtain a CMS user ID to submit an application by June 9
- submit a final application by July 31
