The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will hold three more Open Door Forums on the Next Generation Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Model. This new model is for experienced ACOs that want the opportunity for more financial risk and reward than in current ACO models. The upcoming Open Door Forums will cover the following aspects of the new model:
- financial methodology and related issues (March 31)
- benefit enhancements and beneficiary care coordination reward (April 7)
- letters of Intent and applications (April 14)
CMS expects 15 to 20 ACOs to participate in the Next Generation ACO Model, including existing ACOs and new providers with a minimum of 10,000 beneficiaries. Eligibility criteria can be found in the request for applications. Letters of intent are due May 1, and applications are due June 1.
CMS has previously held two informational calls on the Next Generation ACO Model.
