CMS Extends Meaningful Use, eCQM Deadlines to Dec. 31

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the deadline for hospitals to attest to meaningful use of electronic health records for 2014 under the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program. Eligible hospitals now have through Dec. 31 to submit their meaningful use data to receive an incentive payment for the 2014 reporting year and avoid a 1 percent Medicare payment adjustment in 2016. CMS also extended the deadline for eligible hospitals that are submitting electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) to meet requirements for meaningful use and the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program. Hospitals have until Dec. 31 to submit eCQM data through Quality Net.
